Legislative activities and Success Stories by Greater New York LECET

Activities in support of legislative issues:

a) Monthly lobbying of the state government by LECET representatives.

b) Testifying at hearings on construction legislation and industry related issues.

c) Participating in Workmen's Compensation seminars and support committees.

d) Presentations at school and community board meetings.

Success Stories

a) The securing of $140 million dollars worth of awarded construction projects, primarily in school construction with a further backlog of $90 million dollars in bidding.

b) Prevailing wage claims settled for approximately $400 thousand dollars worth of wages and penalties and over 80 open claims filed with state and local agencies.

c) A bill called the LECET bill, which would declare the failure to post prevailing wage rates a civil crime subject to fines has been successfully introduced into the New York Assembly Legislative agenda.
